I’m missing 20 soul-crushing points in " Lego Star Wars," and I still need 100 more points in " Test Drive Unlimited" (coincidentally, one of the achievements I’m missing there is “Drive 1,000 Miles”).īy next week I will have tried a couple of the titles that the readers suggested, " NBA 2K6,” “ Surf’s Up,” and “ Madden 06.” Hopefully they can fill my 1,000-point side quest. " Prey," for example, is only at 935 points. Several of the achievements line up with the ones found in Halo 3.
HALO 3 ACHIEVEMENT FULL
Ideally, I’d like to be able to complete a couple of games with the full 1,000 points by the end of this, just because it’s one of those things that bothers me on my achievement point list. In the Master Chief Collection, Halo 3 includes 76 achievements, worth a total of 695 points. Even if I wasn’t trying to get these points before December 4, I’d most likely have to miss out on completing another great game. I’m sorry, but I fear I must leave these points by the wayside.
Getting those points would require playing through the entire game a second time, to get all the cars, drive 1,000 miles, and so on and so forth. My biggest problem is that there’s going to be a small handful of points that I would love to get, but, I have a life. I’m sitting pretty with 640, and am only one rally away from another 100 or so points. I probably could, if I didn’t have to move on to another game as soon as possible. “DiRT” on the other hand, has been a game that I’d love to get all the points in (since it is the first/best off-road game I’ve played since Ivan Stewart had his name in a game title). Honestly, I’m perfectly happy with the 420 (total) points that I got, and I’m glad to move on. Basically, it looks like the points from the campaign are going to be the only ones I get, at least for the time being. Halo 3: ODST contains 1,750 new Xbox LIVE achievement points, as well as new weapons, technology and an invite to join the Halo: Reach beta in 2010 Stand-alone. I also just don’t quite understand what the “meta-game” is in order to get all those points, nor do I have time to figure out. I’m just not a good enough player to achieve sergeant status in any kind of timely manner. The multiplayer achievements in “Halo” are the FPS version of RPG grinding. With the majority of my missing points in “Halo 3” falling into the multiplayer category, and one of “DiRT”’s achievements being “Drive 1,000 miles” it’s just impossible for me to complete them. The thing is, neither game (much like last week’s focus “BioShock”) will ever reach the full 1,000, it’s just impossible for the type of player I am. “ Halo 3” was completed (on normal mode for minimal points) and “ DiRT” was pushed to 97% for a whole mess of points. Overall, this has been my best week so far, finally scoring 1,000 points in seven days, over the course of just two games, bringing my total since the challenge began to 2,250. I don’t have the time, energy, and in some cases mental capacity to handle getting some of these points.
As much as I love getting achievement points, there are some that just aren’t going to happen. The quest to 10,000 continues, and as I press on I am learning not only about the games, but about myself as well.
